There is nothing we love more than to explore. We will race out of bed early on Adventure Tuesdays, excited for the day ahead. Excited to put on our thermals and hiking boots grab a guide book or GPS and head out the door.
This Adventure Tuesday was no different than any other except the focus was to gain more experience hiking in the snow and of course our camera's had to come along.
Cradle in winter is stunning, cradle in any season is stunning but today as we slipped on the icy snow and headed up towards Crater Lake we watched as the scenery unfolded into something completely unreal. It was not just a winter wonderland, Alice's rabbit hole has nothing on this place. Every corner brings something new, another cracked mountain breaching its snowy envelope, another beautiful bare tree embracing the beautiful flakes falling from the sky. Another still lake mirroring its surroundings.
We reached our end point earlier than expected as the snow depth grew above our comfort levels so we decided to abandon our attempt to reach the top. This small disappointment was overcome quickly when we stopped and looked around us and realised that we were surrounded by beautiful snowy peaks.
After a small break we headed back down to the car to warm up and plan for our next Adventure Tuesday.
